Privacy Policy

CoderBlog is a personal engineering journal. This page explains what data is collected when you visit, in plain English. There is no legalese for the sake of legalese, and there is no tracking that is not strictly necessary to run the site.

1. What we collect

Server logs. Like every web server, ours records your IP address, the page you requested, the response status, and the user-agent string. Logs are kept for 30 days for debugging and abuse prevention, then deleted. They are not shared with third parties.

Cookies. We do not set any first-party cookies. Third-party services listed below may set their own.

2. Third-party services

The following third-party services are used on the site. Each one has its own privacy policy.

Cloudflare — CDN and DDoS protection. Cloudflare processes requests through their global network; their privacy policy governs what they collect. Set up in front of the origin server.
Google AdSense — displays advertisements. Google uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
Google Analytics — anonymous traffic statistics. Aggregated only, no personally identifiable data. You can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Waline — comment system. The comment widget is loaded from a self-hosted Waline instance on the same VPS. If you leave a comment, Waline stores your nickname, email, and the comment body. It does not share them with anyone.
gTranslate — language switcher. If you use it to translate the site, the request goes through gTranslate's translation service. Their privacy policy governs what they collect.

3. What we do not collect

Your name, email, or any contact information (we do not have a signup form).
Cross-site browsing history.
Fingerprinting data beyond standard user-agent and IP.
Any data we have not explicitly listed above.

4. Your rights

You can block all third-party cookies via your browser settings. You can block all JavaScript and the site will still render in readable form. You can request a copy of any server logs that contain your IP by emailing the address below; logs older than 30 days have already been deleted.

5. Children's privacy

The site is intended for adults working in software. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has interacted with the site and you want logs purged, contact the author.

6. Changes to this policy

If we change anything material, the change will be noted at the top of this page with a new "Last updated" date. We will not silently expand data collection.
